Abstract

|
With introduction and increase in number of cardiovascular surgery cases in Korea, the necessity for special diagnostic studies including cardiac catheterization and angiocardiography is arising. As a Schonander serial X-ray machine is seldom available in Korean institution, some make shift method for angiography has been devised in this institution for preoperative angiographic studies with a conventional X-ray machine and a manual cassette changer.
Seven cases of cavo-pulmonary arteriography after cavo-pulmonary artery anastomosis, four of selective pulmonary. arteriography, and seventeen of retrograde aortography utilizing Amplatz´s spring coil guide catheter have been performed.
Angiograms were utilized in exclusion and definitive preoperative diagnosis for doubtful cases after routine clinical and catheterization studies. Seventy five per cent Hypaque M***was injected manually. Satisfactory diagnostic angiograms were obtained in twenty-seven cases out of twenty-eight. Angiographic diagnosis was confirmed by operation in most cases.
